Lisa Lahey FNP, IBCLC, CSOM and Maya Bolman RN, BA, BSN, IBCLC are thrilled to offer this workshop for IBCLCs and medical professionals. Their combined 45 years of nursing and IBCLC experience, along with expert teaching styles, will enhance your clinical skills and knowledge to further support dyads.

The workshop will be held in Honolulu, HI (ET) at Oahu Country Club, 150 Country Club Rd Honolulu, HI 96817 from August 1-2, 2024. Please see below for more information.

Approved for 14 IBLCE CERPs. IBCLCs must present certification number to register and receive CERPs.

The workshop is limited to 30 people to allow for personalized mentoring and ample time for clinical case scenarios.

Masks are optional.

Thursday, August 1, 2024 // 8:30am-5:00pm 

Maya Bolman RN, BA, BSN, IBCLC will present her workshop, It’s Not Magic, It’s Skill: Gentle Manual Therapeutic Techniques in Lactation that introduces clinical skills such as Therapeutic Breast Massage, Mindful Hand Expression, Breast Gymnastics, Reverse Pressure Softening, Mindful Latching and Soft Stretching Techniques - all essential tools for every lactation consultant (and other healthcare professionals).

Manual techniques support and empower parents to deal with the pain and discomfort of engorgement, plugged ducts and mastitis. They are also useful in managing oversupply, increasing milk production, and handling breast discomfort in case of emergency weaning. The techniques described provide a simple, readily accessible method that can be easily taught to parents and health professionals. Lecture and hands-on learning format employed.

Friday, August 2, 2024 // 8:30am-5:00pm

Lisa Lahey FNP-C, IBCLC, CSOM presents her workshop, Advanced Clinical Care and Concepts for the IBCLC: Oral Motor and Myo Exercises, Massage, Movements, and Play that help facilitate better oral function and feedingIBCLCs will learn assessment and treatment protocols for tethered oral tissues, evaluation of oral motor skills, and breast conditions frequently encountered by the dyad in complex feeding. The principles of Lisa's lactation therapy will be discussed. IBCLC’s will learn specific ways to teach parents how to interact and connect with their child through therapeutic activities. Lecture and hands-on learning format which help IBCLCs to walk away with skills that change your current practice.

*Items to bring to workshop.
 A light colored t shirt (white, gray, pink) a cloth or plastic breast model, and a baby doll to practice clinical skills.

Refund Policy:
Eligible for full refund minus registration fee up to one month before workshop start date. After one month before workshop start date, you will receive a partial refund after a $100 late cancellation fee in addition to the non-refundable registration fee. You also have the option to attend the workshop in another location.

Scholarship:
*Two scholarships of $200 will be awarded to IBCLCs who are working in underserved communities. Please submit a short statement to maya@mayabolman.com about how your community will benefit from the new skills you are going to learn at the workshop. (250 words maximum)
**A scholarship fund for local Hawai’i IBCLCs has been established for the first registered 20 IBCLCs who serve the Hawaiian Islands and communities. If you are interested in the scholarship, please contact jdresel@calmedhawaii.com for information.
